The Art of Allowing and Accepting

Life presents us with many challenges, both internal and external. From financial issues, relationship problems and ill health, external events may not always go our way. The same is true for the internal – emotions and thoughts can plague us and wreak havoc in our minds.

Because of this, our inner peace is often disturbed, but few people realise that the internal or external conditions of our experience are not the cause of our distress.
The cause is much simpler – resistance.

No matter what happens in the allowing-accepting-flowing-flowoutside world or in your internal experience, your inner peace, joy and happiness can remain, unperturbed.
By allowing and accepting your outer circumstances as they are (which does not mean not-changing or improving them if that is appropriate, it simply implies an internal acceptance of your life situation) and by doing the same with your inner world (allowing your thoughts, emotions, sensations…to pass through you, as you offer no resistance to them and let go of any identification with them), you will find that there is something deeper, something vaster, something much more important than the relative experience of the changing phenomenal world – with a continuous practice of accepting and embracing life, you will find a deep sense of peace, tranquility and joy of being that comes from beyond the mind and is completely unaffected and undisturbed by anything you may experience both in an inner and outer form.

Sounds unbelievable? There is only one way to know for sure. You need to try it and experiment with this for yourself and only then see the truth of falseness of it.

Allow your mantra, your new way of life in the next few weeks to be one of flow, allowing, acceptance and embracing of everything that you experience and everyone that you meet.

Since the internal always precedes and is the cause for all external issues, the most important thing is to have the ability to not resist, allow and embrace your internal experience. That alone is sufficient.

At that point you will know what action you need to take in order to improve or change your life situation, if any action is appropriate at the moment at all. Acceptance does not imply passivity,  but it needs to be said that sometimes doing nothing can be a very powerful form of action – simply being and aligning yourself with the rest of the Cosmos can bring co-incidences in your life and change might happen without you doing anything at all.

Allow and accept things internally, as well as accepting and allowing your external situation  – and you will intuitively know whether there is something to be done, what it is that needs to be done, or whether it is best to simply be.

If you simply become aware of your inner dialogues, your thoughts, your emotions, your feelings, sensations and your beliefs as they come to you – whilst not resisting them and accepting them without judgment, your quality of life will improve exponentially and your happiness will soar.

Allowing and accepting whatever comes into your consciousness will help you find the seemingly elusive inner peace and realize on a deep level that it is present and available to you in every moment of your experience.

“Nothing in the world is more flexible and yielding than water. Yet when it attacks the firm and the strong, none can withstand it, because they have no way to change it. So the flexible overcome the adamant, the yielding overcome the forceful.”
– Lao Tzu
